Footplate Experience Packages – £85

Ever wanted to experience our railway from the perspective of a driver? Now you can with our Footplate Experience package.

The package is for one person. An accompanying guest travels free within the carriages on the return trip. The participant should wear stout footwear and close fitting clothing. Shorts, skirts and sandals are not permitted in the cabs of steam locomotives.

The participant must be aged 16 or over and able-bodied – hi-vis jackets and work gloves will be provided. The tour will be accompanied throughout by a ‘host’ volunteer.

Itinerary

The experience will be a footplate experience for one full return trip of the line.

Please note

As an all-volunteer organisation our ability to offer a Footplate Experience will depend on the staff that we have available. A minimum of four weeks notice for a Footplate Experience booking will be required and longer would be preferable. We are unable to offer the experience at shorter notice. The booking will be provisional until confirmed by the Footplate Experience booking clerk which we aim to do within 14 days of the required date.

This experience is not available on Special Event days (dates can be checked on application) and there is no discount facility to members.
