Bedfordshire Whisky Festival returns to Leighton Buzzard Railway

The 2019 Bedfordshire Whisky Festival will take place at the Leighton Buzzard Railway on Father’s Day Sunday 16th June.

Following the success of the inaugural event last year, the 2019 edition will be bigger in every way. There will be more masterclasses with more tickets available, a greater selection whiskies and other spirits, and a larger range of entry options.

Taking place from 10.30am until 4pm in the engine shed at Page’s Park, entry will be free for advanced ticket holders, and just £2 on the day. Festival glasses are also available at a 40% discount to those who pre-book their tickets online before Sunday 19th May.

There will be five masterclasses, each on a different theme. Limited to 20 spaces, these intimate half-hour tastings will be held by whisky writer Billy Abbott, encompassing breakfast whiskies, a beginners’ guide, fruity liqueurs, world whisky and something special to finish the day.

Around 60 whiskies, spirits and premixed cocktails will be available, with prices starting at just £1 per taste. Soft drinks will be on hand for designated drivers, and accompanied children, as well as a hot food stand.

Locomotives not being used in service on the day will be available to view, as well as the railway’s popular guided Engine Shed Show.

For those who wish to take a break from the drams, an enhanced train service will be in operation from Page’s Park Station, departing hourly between 10.30am and 3.30pm. In addition, subject to availability, footplate rides will be offered to visitors to Page’s Park Station using 1912-built steam locomotive, PC Allen.

Festival organiser Rocky Lancer said “I’m delighted that the Leighton Buzzard Railway have agreed to host the Bedfordshire Whisky Festival again in 2019. With all the profits being donated to the railway, I’m looking forward to many customers enjoying the day and supporting a good cause at the same time.”
