Terms and Conditions

These Terms and Conditions constitute a written agreement between Leighton Buzzard Railway Ltd. (hereafter referred to as "The Railway") and its Customers.

The Railway and its Customer(s) accept and agree to be legally bound by these Terms & Conditions. Full or part payment and acceptance to use the products or services of the Leighton Buzzard Railway Ltd. signifies an understanding and acceptance of these Terms & Conditions.

Passengers are required to examine their tickets and change before leaving the point of issue. The Railway will not be responsible for mistakes to which attention is not called at the time of booking. Payment should be made prior to boarding the train.

If booking directly online, your credit or debit card details will be requested by WorldPay, our third party payment clearing provider and once completed a "print-at-home" ticket will be generated. Customers should check all the booking details are correct prior to making their payment.

Cancellation by the Customer

The Railway regrets that all bookings are final and in the event of cancellation by the customer no refund will be made. However in the event that you are unable to travel we will offer you the opportunity to move your booking to another date. Such a request must be made before the time of the original booking.

Cancellation by the Railway

Where the Railway cancels, for whatever reason, and an alternative cannot be offered or taken, there shall be no penalty or administration charge and a refund in full (if applicable) shall be made within ten (10) working days of such a cancellation being advised and confirmed. No compensation, consequential losses or other such claim shall be accepted in the event of such a cancellation.

Validity of Tickets

All standard tickets are valid for the day and time of issue only or, in the case of online bookings, the date and time booked.

A standard return fare is valid for one return journey only.

Tickets are not transferable, and may not be used by any person other than the person to whom or for whom issued.

Seating

Where seat positions are not specified, seating assignments will be on a "first come, first served" basis.

If there is insufficient accommodation of the class for which a passenger holds a ticket, such passenger shall not be entitled to travel in a superior class of accommodation without paying the extra fare; such passenger may, however, travel in a superior class of accommodation without extra payment upon the express permission of the Guard. If such permission is granted, the other users of such superior accommodation shall not be entitled to any refund on account thereof.

Children

Child fares apply for children aged 2-17. Children under two travel free, but may not occupy a seat at busy times. Discounts may apply for accompanied children.

Dogs

Dogs are permitted to use the Railway without charge. Full responsibility for such an animal remains with the accompanying person, including feeding, hygiene and general control so as not to disturb the other passengers.

Baggage

Passengers may bring with them, or accumulate, baggage that shall be of a suitable size so as to fit under the seats. Pushchairs, and additional baggage are also permitted as long as they are suitably folding and portable so as to fit into the standard storage compartments. Leighton Buzzard Railway Ltd. will not accept any liability for loss, damage, breakage, theft, general handling or otherwise of any baggage.

Weather Conditions affecting Customers

The Railway will not accept responsibility for Weather Conditions that affect customers ability to travel to the Railway. No refunds will be offered and no alternative date will be given for travel if customers are unable to arrive on the specified day and time for travel or event. Please see Cancellation by The Customer clause above.

Railway Timetables

The Railway will endeavour to ensure trains run to the advertised timetable however reserves the right to vary the published timetables with or without notice. The Railway does not guarantee that the trains will start or arrive at the times specified in the timetables, and will not be liable for any loss or damage, delay or detention which may arise from early or late running or other related circumstances that are beyond our control. In the event of such an occurrence, no compensation, consequential losses or other such claim shall be accepted.

Breakdown or Immobilisation

The Railway will not accept responsibility for last minute cancellations, delays or other related circumstances due to vehicle breakdown or immobilisation. In the event of such an occurrence, no compensation, consequential losses or other such claim shall be accepted. If this occurrence happens after departure the Railway shall be responsible for returning you to your confirmed drop-off point or starting point within a reasonable time. The Railway reserves the right to use road transport for this purpose.

Liability

In so far as our duties extend in providing a professional, safe and fit-for-purpose product, the Railway, its staff and its agents shall not be liable for any injury, loss, expense, damage, accident, delay, irregularity, stranded individual, personal negligence, weather, quarantines, sickness, disease, act of God, Government restriction, legal regulation or otherwise which are adjudged to be out of the Railway's control.

Unacceptable Behaviour

Any person who Railway staff believe is likely to act in a riotous, disorderly or offensive manner may be refused access to, or may be required to leave trains, platforms or stations.

Reasons for such action shall include, but not be limited to:

  • violent, racist, verbal abuse or other such unacceptable behaviour
  • failure to comply with the laws of the United Kingdom
  • drunk and disorderly behaviour
  • misuse of un-prescribed drugs
  • refusal or failure to comply with health & safety issues
  • refusal or failure to provide suitable evidence of a ticket
  • refusal or failure to pay the correct fee for taking a tour
  • any other behaviour deemed disruptive, dangerous or insulting to other passengers.

Alterations to these terms

The Railway reserves the right to make alterations or changes to these Terms & Conditions at any time.
