Support the Junior Railway Club at Tesco!

We are pleased to let you know that the Junior Railway Club (JRC) has been selected as one of the organisations to be supported by the Tesco stores in Leighton Buzzard. The JRC is raising money to buy suitable tools and safety equipment for use by the young members in the club when carrying out maintenance and operating activities on the railway. Tesco stores in Leighton and Linslade will be accepting votes for three different organisations in store with the most voted for organisation getting £1500, second place £1000 and last place £500. Voting is from Monday 3 August through to the end of November. The stores taking part are:
- Leighton Buzzard Superstore LU7 1ER
- Linslade Express LU7 2PJ
- Appenine Way Express LU7 3XW
To vote, you will need to make a purchase within store of any value. You will receive one token per transaction and it's not necessary to purchase a carrier bag in order to receive a token. So please use these stores as often as you can and vote for the JRC whenever you go in.
The Junior Railway Club was started in April 2025 for 10 to 17 year olds to get involved with the railway. In the space of 18 months, the JRC has grown to 25 members and there is now a waiting list of others wanting to join. Monthly meetings are held covering all areas of the railway such as maintenance activities, learning about engineering and the history of the railway, supervised by a team of adult volunteers. In addition, the JRC members get the opportunity to help on operating days helping passengers or shadowing adult volunteers.
