Junior Railway Day

The LBNGR Junior Railway Club started in April 2025 and now has 25 members aged between 10 and 15/ On September 27th, the adult volunteers are handing over the running of the railway to the Junior Club for the day. The Juniors will be running the booking office and shop, helping passengers to the trains, providing the guards duties, providing miniature train rides at Stonehenge  and showing visitors around the Engine Shed and our Stonehenge open air museum. The only thing they won't be doing is driving the trains. 

 

As well as showcasing the skills of the Junior Railway Club, the Club is also putting on a wide range of activities that will appeal to young people interested in the railway including:

• Demonstrating how shunting is performed safely on sand wagons
• Letting passengers have a go at driving a real diesel engine with Driver for a Fiver
• Driving mainline trains on our train driving simulator
• Demonstrate your skills as a signalman on the signaling simulator
• See some of the model railway layouts our junior members have built

It's a two train day so there are plenty of trains running that day. Come along and see what the Juniors have achieved in 18 months and, of course, have a great day out for the entire family.
